An impact-driven organization

COLLECTIVE EFFORT

IMPACT-DRIVEN

COLLECTIVE EFFORT is an impact-driven organization. As a team, we have a shared and future-proof vision on fashion and retail, we re-invent the way fashion should be made, sold, worn and reused. Collaboration at scale, circularity, transparency, and a shared value system are at the core of our business. The importance and value of responsible entrepreneurship were established at the time the organization was founded.

COLLECTIVE EFFORT is based on an ESG-policy (Environmental, social and governance), it is in our DNA. Our goals are aligned with the circular economy policy goals of the Ellen MacArthur foundation, the UN Sustainable development goals (SDG’s) and the policies set by the Dutch government and the Dutch textile branche organizations.

Impact
Impact

Sustainability has taken center stage in the fashion and textiles industry in recent years, as the impact of the industry on the environment becomes more and more evident. With the fashion industry contributing to global water pollution, a growing scarcity of raw materials, and up to 10% of all emissions worldwide, the need to radically shift perspectives and commitment on value and commit to a circular economy is growing.

The fashion industry is one of the largest industrial sectors in the world. Clothing consumption has grown 60% over the past fifteen years and it was suggested that recycling or reusing textile products could reduce new wastes from virgin materials. It is obvious that today’s linear economy cannot accomplish sustainable manufacturing processes; therefore, the Circular Economy is a need for especially textile industry.

PURPOSE

TO RADICALLY RETHINK AND REDESIGN CONSUMPTION

MISSION

IT IS OUR MISSION TO MAKE CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODELS IN FASHION ATTRACTIVE, ACCESSIBLE AND PROFITABLE FOR THE INDUSTRY, THE SOCIETY AND PUBLIC. BALANCING PURPOSE AND PROFIT.

VISION

WE BELIEVE IN A WORLD THAT OPERATES CIRCULAR AND WHERE CONSUMERS, THE INDUSTRY AND THE SYSTEM COLLABORATE, SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND THRIVE IN ONE LARGE INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY.

We aim to keep fashion products at their highest value: the user phase. Our economic development is decoupled from resource consumption.
We contribute to the reduction of the global landfill footprint with a shared wardrobe of high-quality items.

Impact

SDG’S

Now it is 2023, we have less than 10 years to reach the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) set by the United Nations in 2015 and adopted by all Member States. The SDG’s are an urgent call for action, recognizing that all 17 goals should be met no later than 2030, none is less important than the other, if we wish to save our planet, our climate, our biodiversity and humanity and reduce inequality caused by difference in gender, health, poverty and education.
We support all SDG’s, but following are key for COLLECTIVE EFFORT:

SDG 12: RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION

SDG 1: NO POVERTY

SDG 8: DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

SDG 17: PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS

RADICAL COLLABORATION

Chain collaboration is crucial to change the system.  Revenue models, value chains, production processes, manufacturing techniques, material use, logistics processes, sales channels, use cycles, etc., all need to be revised or innovated. Sharing networks, methods and knowledge is the key to success. As COLLECTIVE EFFORT, we will join existing networks and we will also initiate projects with chain partners that increase knowledge transfer and initiate the transition.

Impact

OUR CIRCULAR GUIDELINES

We operate according to the universal circular economy policy goals (set by the Ellen MacArthur foundation). We formulated our guidelines:

Product as a service

We will take up the challenge of replacing the concept of 'ownership' with 'usership'. When fashion is offered as a service, companies retain ownership and control over the products and the end-of-life solutions.

Extending product life

Extend the life of a product by increasing quality and enabling multiple cycles. We aim to keep fashion products at their highest value: the user phase.

Design for cyclability

By already thinking about multiple cycles for the product in the initial phase, the design phase, a product can last longer. This does not necessarily have to be recycling. Designing for reuse will necessitate the demand for higher quality clothing.

Community building

We create and continue to build a community of stakeholders made up of individuals and partners with a shared vision and values and who are jointly responsible for formulating and manifesting them.

Impact

BRAND CURATION

We do find it important that our brand partners have a demonstrable Environmental, Social and Governemental policy. We inspire our brand partners to communicate transparantly and clearly. Next to attractive designs and strong brand stories, we value:

Environmental welfare

Human welfare

Animal welfare

Design for cyclability

Durable quality

Transparancy and traceability

Diversity and inclusivity
